3 Ways to Use Your Blog Posts After You Publish Them

Here are 3 ways you can use your blog posts after you publish them that will give your clients value and attract a bigger audience

Are you hitting publish on your blog posts then hoping people will find the content? Letting past blog posts fade out of your memory? Frustrated with how few people are finding your content? Here are 3 ways you can use your blog post after you hit publish that will give your clients and audience value and will attract a bigger audience to your blog.

1. Send them to your current and potential clients

You can send blog posts to both your current and potential clients!

I send a big email to my current clients with links to all my educational blog posts. This way they have them all in one place and they can get to them when they need them. Before their engagement session, I send them a list of all my blog posts with tips for what to where, where to go, how to include their dog, and much more. Before their wedding, I send them blog posts with tips for how to create their timeline, where to find vendors, what to have prepared for me when I arrive to photograph their day, and more.

You’re helping them every step of the way and are giving them greater value in working with you. This leads to great referrals and potential clients.

If you’re talking to potential clients, you can send them any blog post you have. You can send them posts that highlight a recent wedding so they can see how you operate on a wedding day. Or you can send engagement sessions so they have inspiration for where to go, what to wear, and how their session might look with you. You can send them educational posts with tips so they can see how much of an expert you and and how much you can help them throughout the year. By sending them these blog posts, they will feel more comfortable with you and will hire you.

Here’s my step-by-step process for how to fill up a content calendar filled with blog post ideas that are relevant to your ideal clients.

Here are 3 ways you can use your blog posts after you publish them that will give your clients value and attract a bigger audience

2. Make Pinterest pins to reach a bigger audience

Pinterest pins are constantly being repinned and shared, even if they were created years ago. They have a longer life span than most social media posts and have a great chance of people being led to your website. If you make pins for each of your blog posts, people will save your pins and click your link to your site. Not only will this lead to more traffic, but it could lead to potential customers.

Here are a few tips for Pinterest pins:

  1. Try to create multiple pins per post so you can cross-test and see which pins perform better. I test out different layouts, fonts, colors, titles, and descriptions.
  2. Make your pins branded to you: use your brand colors and fonts if you can. When someone clicks on your pin and is then taken on your website, you want your pin to match the look and feel of your website so they know they’re in the right place. If your pin is black and red and bold but your website is green and blue and elegant, then people will be confused and leave. Also, once you build up enough pins, people will start to recognize your style and can learn to look for your work if they like your value.
  3. Try to fill the descriptions of the pins with as many keywords as naturally possible. Write what the post is about, what they will take away from it, and give some hints into the tips you’re going to give. Not only will this make people want to click on the pins, but when they search for your topic your pins will come up because of the keywords you write.
  4. Try out Tailwind so you can start a strategy for Pinterest. (I’ll have blog posts about this soon, but for now you can get $15 off your subscription here! I use Tailwind every week and it’s a Pinterest game changer!)

Here are a few pins from recent blog posts. You can look at all my blog posts and see that at the bottom I have 3-6 pins for every post. You can see how I test out different photos, layouts, and titles. Check out the bottom of this blog post to see my pins!

3. Reuse the content for social media

You put in so much time and energy into your content. Don’t let that go to waste! Use your written content to fill up your social media calendar! Let’s say you have a blog post with 3 tips for your clients. Here are a few ways you can reuse the content and give more value to your audience:

  1. Post daily Facebook posts with one tip per day and link back to your blog post so they can see the rest! If they only see one post, they can still get access to the rest!
  2. Post on your Instagram feed with one tip per caption. At the end of the caption, say that there are 2 more tips in the blog post in the link in your bio. You can do three different Instagram posts with the three different tips! You can do them in a row or spread out over a month!
  3. Post all your tips into one caption, but make them super condensed so that if people want details they’ll have to go to the blog!
  4. Create a Guide on Instagram. You can link to past posts and create one space where your posts can live on and give value to your audience! I have Guides for Tips for Couples, Tips for Photographers, Blogging Tips, and more. Check out my Guides on Instagram to get an idea of all the possibilities!
  5. Create Reels on Instagram! This is a feature on the app that is bringing your content to new audiences at a major level. Create a video with an overview of your content and see how many people you reach!
  6. Turn that content into video: a YouTube video, an IGTV video, a Facebook live, and so much more. Video is the future of content!

Ready to make your blog posts and content give value to your current and potential audience? Let’s do it! I can’t wait to see what you do after you publish your blog posts and how these tips grow your business!
