Sydney Kane Photography
Welcome to Sydney Kane Photography!
There have been a lot of changes for my business this year and I’m so excited for each and every one. It’s time to move on from DMVPortraits to become the business I’ve been always meant to be. Along with a new name and a new website by Dana Webb Designs, I have some surprises that are finally ready to be launched! Here’s a breakdown of the new business and what you can expect from me in the future. The last one is a project I’ve been working on for so long and I can’t believe it’s finally happening!!
Photography Services
The main part of my business is still photography. I’ve slowly been finding my niche and it won’t surprise you at all to know that Sydney Kane Photography will be specializing in weddings, elopements, and seniors!
Weddings
I have thoroughly enjoyed photographing weddings and am happy to continue serving couples on one of the biggest days of their lives! I’m currently booking 2020 and 2021 couples all over Virginia and the country, and the weddings in the Shenandoah mountains will always have my heart!
I can’t wait for the couples that have already chosen me to capture their journey to see all the major things I’ve been working on behind the scenes and to get some amazing images from their big days!
Elopements
This is a new service that I am so passionate and excited about! For the adventurous couples who want an intimate wedding with just themselves or a few guests, I am so happy to start offering elopement packages in Virginia, the US, and the world! Check out the whole new page to see more!
Seniors
I’ve restructured my senior packages to get to the heart of my business. My main senior package is now The Senior Adventure Experience! Instead of having the restriction of a location or time limit, I am now offering adventures to seniors who want the freedom to show off their personality. The ideas are limitless, so check out the new seniors page to get more details!
The second package is The College Senior Experience. This is meant for college seniors who want photos on campus with their caps and gowns, and the entire experience is tailored to what they need! I’ve photographed over 50 James Madison University seniors on the quad and I’m so excited to continue this service and expand to other colleges in Virginia!
Education
As this website launches, I’m starting graduate school to become a high school English teacher. At the same time, I’m captain of two different Ultimate frisbee teams, I picked up my own personal learning, and I’m consistently putting out free educational content for my clients, other photographers, and adventurers everywhere.
If you haven’t figured it out already, education is my entire life. It’s my passion in everything I do. With this in mind, I’m seriously pushing four new outlets for education in my business.
Free Guides and Resources
Within the past few months, I’ve made free guides for Skyline Drive, my locations list, how to add more adventure into your life, best hikes, best sunset spots, and how to find your style as a photographer. I have so many more planned based on what you have been asking for.
Mentoring
I love working one-on-one with new photographers who are trying to grow their businesses and become more consistent in their passions. This service will continue to be available so I can continue making those connections, but they will be limited so I can have more time for the next two outlets for education.
Blog
I’ve blogged every week on Wednesdays for over a year. With a new website I saw an opportunity to restart and restructure to best serve you and become more consistent. For the foreseeable future, I plan to blog Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 AM.
I will rotate between four core categories: personal, client education, portfolio (client shoots including weddings, elopements, engagements, and seniors), and photographer education.
My content calendar is set for the next several months. It will include mainly past blogs that you’ve already seen, but will all include new content and will be further optimized for SEO. This means that if you’re a past or current client you’ll get to relive your blog post again on all my platforms.
YouTube
That’s right. I started a YouTube channel. And yes, I’m as shocked as you are. I never thought I’d start my own channel, but after years of thinking about it and knowing that I needed another outlet for education, I finally did it, but probably not for the reasons you think. Check out my first video all about why I started a YouTube channel and see the rest of the videos I already have out!
The Future
2020 is already a big year for me, and it can only get bigger. I’ve been working on these new projects for so long and I’m so excited to finally share them with you. With the start of graduate school and a busy fall season, I’m not sure exactly what my future will look like. Within the next year, I might move out of Harrisonburg into an entirely new city and start a new job as a teacher, and I’m not sure what that’s going to look like either.
For now, just know that I’m so excited for my business and I’m so proud of everything I’ve done and will do in the future. Thank you for your support. It means the world to me. I wouldn’t be here without you.
Until next time,
Sydney Kane Photography
