Best of 2020 Seniors

Welcome to the Best of 2020 Seniors!

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and photographing 40 seniors this year to celebrate graduation from either James Madison University or a local high school. This year has been wild due to Covid, but seniors have been more than thankful for still getting to mark their graduation with pictures. As one senior told me, we didn’t get a graduation, but we can at least send our family the photos.

That’s exactly how I felt this spring when I took my own graduation portraits. I didn’t get a graduation or even the chance to say goodbye to all my friends, but I swapped portraits with another graduating photographer and sent the photos to my family. It meant a lot to still be able to celebrate a little bit after all our hard work over the years.

It also meant a lot to me that each of these seniors trusted me to take their graduation portraits. After quite a few cancellations when Covid first hit, I was devastated. Then as the weather got warmer and more people started taking portraits around our actual graduation date, the business came flooding in. I’ve never photographed so many seniors than I did this year, and they were all during warm weather, green trees, and beautiful light, and we had the Quad to ourselves for almost every single session. Normally we take them early in the spring when it’s cold, gray, and crowded.

Yes this senior season started out hard, but it ended up being the best one yet, and that’s all thanks to every senior you see on this page. This goes out to all 40 of you! Congratulations to the Class of 2020!!
