Skyline Drive Engagement | Lauren & Clay

Lauren and Clay say their relationship is “nothin’ fancy.” Their love is laid-back, easy, and so apparent to everyone who meets them. They love each other, their dog, and the time they spend together most in this world. They have so many sweet memories together that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Their engagement session and their wedding will reflect that simple and happy love, and it will be an honor to share.

Lauren and Clay first started dating while Lauren was attending JMU, so we started their engagement session there. We walked around the Quad with Duke, their adorable golden that they adopted and named after the JMU mascot. The three of them were all smiles while this little fluffball was around.

From there, we met up at Skyline Drive for the rest of their session. We started at Hazeltop Overlook, where Lauren wore the most beautiful dress and no shoes. After cuddling up on the iconic walls, we ventured down into the field for some beautiful photos. Lauren and Clay popped champagne and snuggled under the warm blanket.

We drove to the Point Overlook as the sun was going down. We did the short hike down to the rock outcrop and joined a few other groups of people waiting for the sun to set. They kindly let us get some show-stopping images, and then we all settled down to watch the sunset. When the sun was gone, we took a few last blue-hour portraits at the top of the mountains, then climbed back up to our cars and hugged goodbye.

I can’t wait for your wedding later this year! Congratulations on finding your perfect person and taking this next big step together.

No Skyline Drive engagement session is complete without a sunset.
